Our AML and Verification Commitment
We hold licence MGA/B2C/1031/2023 from the Malta Gaming Authority, and every account on ragnarocasino.com operates under that licence's anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorism-financing framework. This page sets out plainly what we check, when we check it, and what we need from you.
Our AML Policy in Plain Terms
The licence behind the rules
Ragnaro Casino is operated by Ragnaro Gaming Ltd (Malta) and has held its MGA licence since the company launched in 2017. Because we operate under the Malta Gaming Authority, we follow the Maltese anti-money-laundering framework, which mirrors the Financial Action Task Force recommendations. In practice that means we must know who our players are, watch where money comes from and goes, and report suspicious activity to the relevant authorities.
We treat these obligations as a floor, not a ceiling. Our compliance team applies a risk-based approach: the more unusual a transaction pattern looks, the more scrutiny it attracts. The overwhelming majority of players never notice any of this, because routine play clears our automated checks without any action on your part.
When We Verify Your Account
Verification checkpoints
We run verification at three points in your account's life, and the triggers are fixed so there are no surprises.
- At registration: we confirm your age (18 or over), your country of residence, and screen your details against sanctions and self-exclusion lists before your first bet.
- Before your first withdrawal: full identity verification, including proof of address and payment method ownership, is required. We aim to complete this review within 24 hours.
- At thresholds: if deposits, withdrawals or cumulative play reach risk triggers set by our compliance team, enhanced verification applies.
| Check | Document we accept | When required |
|---|---|---|
| Identity | Passport, driver licence or national ID card | First withdrawal |
| Address | Utility bill, bank statement or government correspondence issued in the last 3 months | First withdrawal |
| Payment method | Photo of the card (first 6 and last 4 digits visible, middle digits and CVV covered) or screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet | First withdrawal to that method |
How Verification Works Step by Step
From upload to approval
Upload your documents through the secure verification portal in your account area, never by email to general support. Our checks run from there.
- Open the Verification tab in your Ragnaro Casino account and select the outstanding document type.
- Photograph or scan the document so all four corners are visible, with the full name, date of issue and expiry readable.
- Upload the file. JPEG, PNG or PDF up to 10 MB per document is accepted.
- Our compliance officers review the submission, usually within 24 hours of upload.
- You receive an email and an in-account notification with the outcome. If something is unclear, we tell you exactly what to re-submit rather than rejecting without explanation.
How your documents are protected
Documents sit on encrypted storage with access restricted to the compliance officers assigned to your case. Nobody in customer support, marketing or payments can view them. We retain files only for the retention period the law sets, then delete them.
When We Ask for Source of Funds
A fair threshold, not a blanket rule
For most players, proof of identity is all we ever need. Source of funds evidence comes into play when the amounts moving through the account go beyond what is routine for the stake levels and deposit history we can see. We apply this requirement to deposits, not winnings, because it is your money coming in that we must be able to account for.
Typical triggers include deposits that are large relative to your history, a sudden change in depositing pattern, or play at stakes well above your established level. If we ask, it is not an accusation. It is a question the licence obliges us to put to you, and a clear answer closes it.
- Payslip or employment contract
- Tax return or notice of assessment
- Bank statement showing the funds arriving from a traceable source
- Sale documentation for property, shares or a business
- Inheritance or divorce settlement paperwork
How We Monitor Transactions
Deposits and withdrawals
Every deposit and withdrawal passes through automated screening that flags anomalies for manual review. Withdrawals must return to the same method you deposited with, up to the amount you put in through that method; any surplus goes to a method of your choice from our withdrawal list (Visa, Mastercard, Skrill, MiFinity, Bank Transfer, Bitcoin, Ethereum or Tether). This same-method rule exists because it closes a common laundering route: money in one channel, out another.
Withdrawals are processed within 0 to 24 hours, with crypto payouts cleared inside 1 hour. Daily limits are 8,000 AUD, weekly 16,000 AUD and monthly 32,000 AUD, and the minimum withdrawal is 30 AUD. We charge no fees on withdrawals.
If Verification Fails or Stalls
What we do and when
If documents do not arrive or do not pass review, we do not simply close your account. The sequence runs in stages, and you keep control of the outcome at each one.
- Pending review: deposits and play continue normally while we wait for documents.
- Withdrawal hold: after 7 days without a response, withdrawals pause. Deposits remain open.
- Account suspension: if a request goes unanswered for 30 days, the account is suspended and play stops. Your balance is protected and stays yours.
- Closure and refund: where verification fails definitively (documents found to be false or belonging to someone else), we close the account and refund the verified remaining balance to its source. Funds we cannot lawfully return are reported under our regulatory obligations.
How Long We Keep Your Records
Retention periods
The Malta framework requires us to keep identity and transaction records for five years after the account closes or the last transaction occurs, whichever comes later. Retention serves two purposes: it lets us answer regulator and law-enforcement requests, and it stops a person who was previously refused or excluded from simply re-registering with new details.
Once the retention period ends, we delete verification documents and transaction records. If you want your data removed earlier, write to [email protected] and we will delete what the law does not require us to hold. Questions about any of the above go to the same address or to our live chat, staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to verify before I can play?
No. You can register, deposit and play after an age and country check. Full document verification is required before your first withdrawal.
How long does verification take?
Most reviews finish within 24 hours of document upload. Complex cases, or files we need to re-request, take longer and we keep you updated.
Why can I only withdraw to the method I deposited with?
Our same-method rule is an anti-money-laundering requirement. Withdrawals return to the deposit method up to the amount deposited, with any surplus payable to a method of your choice.
What if I deposit with PayID or Neosurf?
Those methods are deposit-only, so withdrawals go to a bank transfer, card or e-wallet, or crypto, after we confirm the account or wallet is yours.
Will you share my documents with anyone?
Only with the Malta Gaming Authority, law enforcement or auditors where we are legally required. Access within Ragnaro Casino is limited to the compliance officers handling your case.
